Today we're going to work on a useful spell against enemies: Petrificus Totalus . Now this spell comes from the expression to "totally petrify", which means to cause complete numbness and disable any movement a person could make. Being petrified, you won't be able to speak, move your eyes, hands fingers, or do a single twitch! Nothing. You're stuck like until a nice person unpetrifies you, or until the caster's dead. Now after being unpetrified, unless someone has hurt you or something, you will come out of it unharmed and get back to normal quickly enough. But believe me, it's not such a good feeling to be concious of your petrified body, and knowing you can't do anything about it! Let's try to learn the spell then. You each have a mouse in front you. Try to petrify your mice, and don't worry, I'll unpetrify them all after class, they won't be harmed. Point your wands at the mice now, and say the spell clearly! **Demonstrates** Petrificus Totalus! **mouse stops moving and lays still on the table** There. Start practising now!
